One of the things I struggle with, and comment on frequently, is categorizing a patch. Today's patch, The Tide Goes Out On Venus, is a great example of that. It's a wash of noise that fades in and out over time, like a pad, yet its character of sound doesn't really lend itself to being a pad. Its too abrasive and short, more like a synth, and yet....
Well, you get the picture. The Tide Goes Out On Venus is more of a FX sound, at its heart, but I've stuck to a few specific categories since starting Reason Patch A Day. So, I'll call today's patch a pad, and call it a day.
